This Unit is designed to provide participants with the basic knowledge and skills needed to perform Electrical Rescue from “live” LV Electrical Apparatus according to established procedures.

4 Hours, consisting of 2 hours Theory + 2 hours of Individual Practical Competency Assessment.

PRE REQUISITES:
Participants must have completed HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Basic Electrical Appreciation. May consist of participants other than with an electrical
background (mechanical) who have a good knowledge when working in
Electrical Switch-rooms, Switchyards or Substations
LEARNING ELEMENTS:
Demonstrate working knowledge and skill to identify types of Electrical Apparatus associated with the client’s ‘On Site’ Assets.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skill to perform different types of Electrical Low Voltage Circuit Isolations.
Demonstrate knowledge of equipment required to rescue Victims from contact with live conductors.
Demonstrate knowledge of how a Rescuer can minimise their risk if required to release a victim from contact with live conductors.
Demonstrate knowledge to release a Victim from simulated contact with live conductors.
Content Summary:
Discussion of Electrical Hazards & Incidents
Electrical Apparatus Familiarisation.
Methods of Normal & Inadvertent Energisation.
Effects of Electric Shock.
Isolation Methods.
Course delivery will consist of:
Training Room Presentations to give the participant acquisition of knowledge and thinking skills.
Hands on, Practical Operating skills will occur through Demonstration, Practice and scenario’s on equipment at the clients Site.
Participant Role Plays for ‘On Site’ scenario’s.
Participant Practical Training Room Exercises.
Competency Assessment for this course will consist of:
Simulated Written Assessments where Participants will be required to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to prepare for an emergency situation .
Simulated oral and practical training room assessments where participants will be required to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to perform Methods of Release of Victims from Contact
with Live Conductors.
